Assignment #5 English song
This week i would like to introduce one of my favorite english song. This song came from a Disney movie and it is call "Beauty & the Beast" . I watched this movie when i was 5 years old. The first time i heard it, i fall in love with the song, the rhythm and the lyric. The lyric is beautiful as a poem. I think the lyric should be understand in English because if you translate to Chinese it will be a little strange. The singer of this song is Céline Dion and Peabo Bryson (also the singer of the "a whole new world"). Céline Dion come from Canada and Peabo Bryson come from America. One of the Céline Dion's famous song is "My heart will go on" the theme of the Titanic.
The words i learned form this song:
1) rhyme: one of two or more words or phrases that end in the same sounds.
example:He couldn't think of a rhyme for “orange.”
2)barely: only just; scarcely; no more than; almost not:
example: He has barely enough money to live on
3)bend: to force (an object, especially a long or thin one) from a straight form into a curved or angular one, or from a curved or angular form into some different form
example: He bent the iron bar as if it had been made of rubber.
Lyric:
Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Than somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small, to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will arise
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bettersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast

This week i choose "The Christmas Truce" for my english learning from BBC. It is a 6 min english podcast. The reason i choose this article is i love Christmas very much. This article is about during WW1, the Germany soldiers were fed up with the war and they ask for a truce by a song "silent night, holy night..." on Christmas .After reading this article, i know that no one love war even Germany soldier. It is so unbelievable because Germans always started a wars or join a wars. Another thing surprizing me is twelve million letters were delivered to the front of the war a week.
